James started his career in the travel industry at News International in London and after a hectic 2 years, he decided in 1996 to head down under for a break.
A one week travel temping role with AEA Australia (now International SOS) turned into a 20 year career most of which was spent in Sydney running their internal travel department which at one stage saw substantial growth in travel from $2m to $26m in two years.
In 2016, he entered the academic world with a new position at Curtin University as Travel Operations Manager. He is highly regarded within the university travel landscape as a ‘travel expert’ with an understanding of all travel sectors including procurement, TMC’s, GDS, OBT, payment solutions, pre-trip approvals and of course travel risk.
James was a finalist in the Bttb GBTA travel program of the year awards 2018, and a finalist in the VC awards at Curtin 2018. He has also recently set up a Travel Procurement networking group in WA.
